You can simply use LargeBackup to DVD (the program) as a convenient tool to help you backup a large data set to multiple CD/DVD discs in a single batch without any file being split. The files on every other disc are 100% ready to use. There is no compression, weird storage or anything. It simply fills each disc to the most capacity.
In case of you need to backup file size larger than the disc burning limit or disc capacity, then the split-and-span function is ready to make your job done in a simple and convenient way.
For example, if you want to backup a 5.0GB file onto two DVD discs:
The splitting system is 100% non-proprietary. No compression/headers or anything else is used. It's a "pure split" - meaning you can use any standard join tool (even DOS COPY) to join the files.
Moreover, the program will always record how the file been split-and-span in the backup index file which burnt onto the first backup disc. Therefore, you can simply load backup discs in sequence to join the file parts by using the restore function in the program.
LargeFile.dat 5.0GB
The program will first use the file name to create a folder on the disc, then read and burn parts of the file into the folder in sequence, and then span to second disc when the first disc is full.
For not wasting disc space, the program will inform you to use a CD instead of DVD for the second disc.
The file split-and-span burning process is doing on-the-fly. No unsafe touch to the source files, requires no hard disk space for temporary files, no need to split or compress files first.
